Banz in the Mountains

Welcome to the section that celebrates the simple pleasure of hopping on a bike, pointing it at a large hill and pedalling.

I've always been a fan of physically pushing myself and the hills we've encountered since leaving the UK have certainly had scope for that. Surprisingly, I'm not the only person who likes doing this and the Internet (surprise, surprise) showed a number of groups of people with the same interest. The one I decided to join is BIG Passacol because it's really well organised and recognises that this passtime is meant to be fun. Although there are times, when my legs and brain have crumbled under the strain, that that's not always obvious.

My tactic at the moment is to see if any notable hills near our route are on the BIG Passacol and while Victoria has a restful day I head off to where the air is clear and thin. We are also happy to go out of our way for something worthwhile - like Etna - but we have been lucky enough to be cycling through hilly areas for the most part! I'm sure Vic is thankful for that...
